The Key:
The Doors is the fifth performance of the group. It has brought plenty of humour and good spirits to the Slovene dance scene. Each of the six dancers opens their own door, their own story that is being compiled into a unique labyrinth, full of various scenes. At the end, everybody discovers that every door, especially one to your heart, has its own capricious doorman. The performance is an open-closed variant with elements typical of Fourklor, this time the doors and the door-frames in their rational and physical simplicity. The door at times constitutes a metaphor and at times a concrete everyday element, or it - through dancers' movement - becomes a weightless abstract object, as if their additional extremity or a Kafkaesque live substance. Branko Potočan on his performance: "The performance shows the toying with the props, body-body and body-group confrontations. It is the style of our organic, natural movement. We are never merely interested in the choreography per se, to placing us into space. We are more inclined to its practicability and function in the performance. The subject itself brings about the need to use the story-delineating props. The metaphysics and surrealism of the story can be more clearly shown with elements typical of Fourklor: boards, clubs, dancing-belts, ropes. Now we have introduced the doors and the door-frames in their rational and physical simplicity. Such is also my motto: One should always open some kind of a door, for if it is left unopened, we will never know the landscapes behind it. |
