LOCATIONS
what is FINALE?

For the realization of the performance we need two locations which don't have a direct visual contact but are close to each other (an L-shaped square is the most appropriate environment) and a third location for our 'field studio'. The third location should have a direct visual contact to both first and second location.
We can be less strict, but this configuration is what our equipment prefers (it adds to the technical quality of the performance).

FIRST LOCATION 1 (click here to see the larger plan)

- the stage of the soccer match
- a street or a square (for pedestrians only)

For our first location we need a larger (about 15 x 30 metres) street or a square with a constant, moderate pedestrian traffic (we need our soccer field populated) and a higher ground (3rd floor of the adjacent building) to place the high-angle camera. Using a fleeting, white colour (washed away by the first rain), we need to paint soccer field lines on the ground of the street/square. The 15 x 30 metres surface has to be without any obstacles (trees, benches,...). On the spot of the camera (3rd floor) we need a 220V power supply.

This location is not supposed to be subjected/exposed to the audience. We just shoot the traffic and use it for the video projection on the second, nearby location. Therefore it has to be properly lit (daylight or artificial lights in the evening).

SECOND LOCATION 2 (click here to see the larger plan)

- video projection of the soccer match
- this is where the audience should gather

It's on this location, where the performance is going on. From the observer's point of view it's something like a group watching of a soccer match. The festival organizer should provide a proper (according to the place/time, where the projection is going on) video projection and sound euipment: a video projector and a 3 x 4 metres screen, an amplifier and loudspeakers. If we can get an active wide screen (high contrast TV or LED screen), we can do it even on sunlit square/street, else we need a shaded place for the screen or do it in the evening. All these appliances need power supply.

In front of the screen there should be place for the audience, of course.

THIRD LOCATION 3 (click here to see the larger plan)

- our workspace for video/audio editing and live commentary

From the third location we need to have a view on both first and second location. It is exclusively set for our team and appliances, which cover the video/sound editing and live commentary. We need an audio/video link (cable) to the organizer's amplifier and the projector on the second location. We also need a visual link to our cameras on the first location, which means as few obstacles and disturbing EM aplliances in the vicinity as possible to keep our air link alive. For our appliances and management we need 3 larger tables, 5 chairs and 220V power supply.

It is recommended that this space is not under the open sky, because of our sensitive to moisture (rain) equippment. An awning (roof) of a nearby tavern/pub should suffice.

  EQUIPMENT

Equipment and personnel provided by the organizer:

On all three locations we need a standard 220V power supply.

On the first location we need protection for our high-angle camera. It may be guarded by a person or unguarded in a locked room. It's a static camera that doesn't need an operator (one of us).

On the second location we need a big screen for the audience, suitable sound amplification, an audio/video link (cable) to connect it to the third location and one person to guard all this equipment. It's also convenient for us if there are people that know this equipment somewhere nearby.

On the third location we need three larger tables, five chairs, and a person to guard our equipment during the setup, break, performance and clear-up time after the show.

  DURATION and CONDITIONS:

To set up the scene and our equipment we need approx. 4 hours. The duration of the performance is 2 x 45 minutes. To clear up we need 1 hour.

The performance is designed for a daylight, to get the best possible picture on the first location. In that case, we need an active video screen on the second location that has a high contrast even on daylight. If the second location is dark enough or the show time is in the dusk, we can use a video projector instead of an active screen. If the show time is in the dusk, the first location needs to be properly lit.

We recommend dry weather, but it can drizzle or even rain a bit. In that case, the third location definitely needs a roof above the equipment.

In any case, we need info on allocated places and find an agreement about the adequateness of the locations and circumstances together, soon enough to find possible alternatives.
