Martín López-Vega (Poo de Llanes, Asturias, 1975) writes both in Spanish and Asturian. In Asturian, he has published four books of poems, gathered in the bilingual anthology Otra vida (Another life, 2008), as well as the essays El sentimientu de un occidental (Occidental Sorrow, 2000) and Obreros de la lluz (Workers of Light, 2013). His last book of poems in Spanish is Adulto extranjero (Adult Foreigner, 2010).
Maurizio Mattiuzza was born near Zurich and returned to his father’s homeland, Friuli (a region in the Northeast of Italy next to the Slovenian border), in 1976. His beginnings as a poet go back to the time of his involvement in the Usmis magazine and the poetry movement of Trastolons, of which he was one of the co-founders. He published four books, notably L'inutile necessità(t) (2004) with a preface by Luciano Morandini and a postface by Claudio Lolli and his most recent, Gli alberi di argan (2011). He also works as a lyrics writer and spoken word performer in collaboration with songwriter Lino Straulino. Together, they recorded the album Tiere nere (Nota Records) and went on a very long tour, as part of which they also held a live concert for the Swiss RTV. Maurizio is the winner of a number of important Italian literary awards and has appeared at several poetry festivals. He writes poems in Italian and Friulian and even in the dialect spoken in a valley in the Italian Alps, where his mother comes from.
Patrizia Gattaceca (1957, Corsica) is a versatile artist: poet, musician, singer and songwriter, actor from the Riacquistu cultural revival. In addition to her extensive discography, she is the author of five poetry collections: L’Arcubalenu, A Paglia è u focu/La paille et le feu, Mosaicu, Tempi di rena /Dans le duvet de la cendre and Isula d’anima/Soul island. Her poems have also been published in numerous journals and anthologies in various countries.
Tibor Hrs Pandur, born 5 January 1985 in Maribor, Slovenia, received his Bachelor’s Degree in Comparative Literature at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana with his thesis on Ezra Pound: The Song as Vortex and Hyperlink. He is the founder and editor of the literary magazine and paraliterary organisation I.D.I.O.T., where he publishes poetry, drama and theoretical writings, giving spoken word performances all over Europe. In 2008, his first play Dream 59, directed by Jana Pršuh, premiered at the Ljubljana Glej Theatre. In 2010, The Center for Slovenian Literature published his first book of poetry Energymachine, followed by his translations of Jim Morrison's selected poetry in 2011. His play on Nikola Tesla is currently in production at RTV Slovenija.
Tsead Bruinja (b. 1974) is a poet living in Amsterdam. He made his debut in 2000 with the Frisian language collection entitled De wizers yn it read (Meters in Red). Bruinja’s debut in the Dutch language, Dat het zo hoorde (The Way It Should Sound), was published in 2003 and was nominated for the Jo Peters Poetry Prize the following year. Bruinja compiles anthologies – including the famous Kutgedichten (Twat Poems) and the anthology Droom in Blauwe regenjas - nieuwe Friese dichters (Dream in a Blue Raincoat – New Frisian Poets) –, writes reviews, hosts literary events and performs in the Netherlands and abroad, often with musician Jaap van Keulen and occasionally with flamenco dancer Tanja van Susteren. His most recent collections are Overwoekerd (Overgrown; 2010) and Angel (Hook; 2008). The latter was published in newspaper form and appeared as a free download on a Dutch literary blog. Within a month, it had been downloaded 2000 times. At the end of 2008, Bruinja was nominated for the title of new poet laureate for the Netherlands for the period 2009-2013. Bruinja came in second.
