Ana Pepelnik is a poet and translator. Her first poetry collection, Ena od varijant kako ravnati s skrivnostjo (One Way to Treat a Secret; Prišleki, LUD Literatura) came out in 2007. The same publisher also published her following two books of poetry, Utrip oranžnih luči na semaforjih (The Blinking of Yellow Traffic Lights) in 2009 and Cela večnost (A Whole Eternity) in 2013. She translates poetry by the young and not so young generation of American poets, among others works by Joshua Beckman, Matthew Zapruder, Matthew Rohrer, Noelle Kocot, Jennifer Clement, as well as James Schuyler and Elizabeth Bishop. In her other free time, she is a radio presenter on the independent radio station Radio Študent and voice researcher involved in various word/sound/silence/creak/noise events, for instance in the international project Metropoetica, but mostly performs as the third wheel of the group CPG.
Arvis Viguls (1987) is a Latvian poet, literary critic and translator from English, Spanish, Russian and Serbo-Croatian. He lives in Riga where he leads poetry workshop in Latvian Writers Union. His first poetry collection “Istaba” (Room, 2009) received Annual Prize of Latvian Writers Union for the best debut and Poetry Days Prize as the best poetry book of the year. After his second critically acclaimed collection 5:00 (2012) he’s now working on his third book (scheduled for 2016), its manuscript won him a prize from The Foundation for Support of Latvian Literature which patron is the president of Republic of Latvia. Viguls’ poems have been published in anthologies and literary magazines in English, German, Russian, Serbian, Czech, Finnish, Lithuanian and Hebrew. His translations include poetry of J. Brodsky, F.G. Lorca, W. Whitman, W. B. Yeats, V. Popa and others.
Franca Mancinelli (Fano, 1981) has published two books of poetry, Mala kruna (Manni, 2007) and Pasta madre (Nino Aragno, 2013). A preview of her second book of poetry has appeared in Nuovi poeti italiani 6, edited by Giovanna Rosadini (Einaudi, 2012). Her works are featured in several anthologies, including Il miele del silenzio. Antologia della giovane poesia italiana, edited by Giancarlo Pontiggia (Interlinea, 2009). She contributes as a critic to «Poesia» and other literary journals and reviews.
Ming Di is a poet, translator and editor, born in China, currently living in USA, author of six collections of poetry in Chinese. Some of her poems have been translated into other languages: River Merchant’s Wife (Marick Press, USA, 2012), Luna fracturada (Valparaíso, Spain, 2014), Histoire de famille (Transignum, France, 2015) and Livre de sept vies (Recours au Poème éditeurs/France, 2015).
Ming Di went to Boston University for graduate studies in linguistics before settling in California. She has translated four books of poetry/poetry criticism into Chinese and co-translated four volumes of poetry from Chinese into English, including The Book of Cranes (Vagabond Press 2015) and Empty Chairs (Graywolf Press 2015). She edited and co-translated New Cathay: Contemporary Chinese Poetry (Tupelo Press, co-published by the Poetry Foundation, 2013); received Henry Luce Foundation fellowships in 2013 and 2014, and the John Frederick Nims translation prize in 2015; served as one of the five final judges of the US national Poetry Out Loud in 2014; and co-curated China Focus at Poesiefestival Berlin in 2015.
Narlan Matos (Brazil/USA) Born in Itaquara, Bahia, 1975. One of Brazil’s most famous poets and a rising voice in Latin American poetry. At the age of 21, he published his first poetry book Ladies and Gentleman: the Dawn!, which won the Jorge Amado Foundation Award in 1997. His second poetry book In the Campsite of the Shades won his first national award: the XEROX Award for Brazilian Literature in 2000. In 2002, he participated of the International Writing Program, University of Iowa. His poetry has called the attention of legendary poets like Yevgeny Yevtushenko, Robert Creeley, Lawrence Ferlinghetti and Tomaz Salamun. His third poetry book Elegy to the New World, published by 7 Letras Publishers, has been already translated into several languages and it has been chosen as one of the best poetry books of 2012, also nominated for the prestigious Portugal /Telecom International Award. He participates actively in various literary programs and festivals in the United States and Europe and is the recipient of numerous literary and artistic accolades. His poetry has been translated into Slovenian, English, Lithuanian, Japanese, Hindi, Swedish and Spanish. He holds a masters degree from the University of New Mexico and a PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. Currently, he is an adjunct professor at Montgomery College, D.C.
