"Despite the fact that Dani magazine has been published in the social milieu of Bosnia-Herzegovina, where the level of democracy and actual economic power of the state differs greatly from that of Slovenia, where Mladina is published, the methods for putting pressure on the independent media are often very similar. For example, ‘fast-track’ trials and ‘sudden’ withdrawals of advertising. The experiences of Dani magazine show that there is much more open violence surrounding the media in Bosnia-Herzegovina, but also more self-censorship among journalists. Commercial lobbies hardly exist there. Slovenia observes more sophisticated methods of influence over editorial policies."
