Project descriptions
The Traditional tales and games is a Comenius 1 project in which the participants work together
on traditional tales and outdoor games from their countries.
working plan is the following
In the beginning of the school year the pupils who'll be new in the
project will prepare a short introduction of themselves and teachers. We plan to involve one more
teacher and class. The pupils will list all the traditional tales which we think are important to
know from their cultural heritage. Then we will send the list to each other and compare the tales
to study the similarities and differences. Here we will use the e-mail and send it by post.
We will produce a comic strip of one of our tales and send them to England. Before we started to make
the stripes, all schools in the project contact London, so they have the possibility to see that we
don’t have chosen the same tale.
The English children will write a story to the stripes and send them back to all the schools in the
project. The point is that all the schools, except the school in London, make one comic stripe and
get three back.
When we get it back we read it and see if they have made the tale as it is from the original version.
After this we send the correct tale to London both in our home language and in English. We are also
going to record it and send the tape to each other.
We will illustrate the stories of other countries.
By doing this we all practice writing, reading and hearing.
During the end of November all our stories, will be shown on our web-page.
We will continue to mail and send postcards to each other.
Our school plan to have an Open Day for parents and community to present the project and our
collaboration with countries of European Community (probably in December 2000)
The evaluation of our Autumn term activities will take place when we will see each other in
Ljubljana in February 2001.
We plan to extend our collaboration with preschool organisations (with Rudsdalens forskola avd Humlan)
with one more teacher (their project application is added). We have motivated Trnovo kindergarden.
We'll inform them about our activities during this school year. They'll join us on the coordinator
meeting in Ljubljana and they'll become the active project partner in school year 2001-02.
Spring-term 2001 activities
We are going to work with Outdoor games and Playground games.
We'll choose a game and then write down all the instructions, make pictures, which could help the others to understand what to do and how. If possible we can make a tape, which shows you how to play it. This is an important way of showing the game and specially if it consists of songs and rhythms
When we have tried the games which we got from our partner schools, we will tell each other how it worked out.
During the term we will try to involve parents, grandparents and relatives to our pupils to get as many games as possible. The pupils will make interviews about games and take down the instructions. Now we can get old traditional games and new ones. We are also able to look for similarities and differences while compare the games between our schools.
If possible we'll prepare the Game Day in school at the end of the Spring term. All the games from this day we will exchange to each other.
The aim is to get a book full of ideas, instructions of games from our five countries. Some of the games will be on our web page.
During the term we will continue to send cards and send mails to each other.
We plan a meeting in February 2001 in Ljubljana, to plan the third year activities.
The communication language is English.
An evaluation will be done at the end of Spring term 2001, by an enquire, done and put together by the coordinator school, Skogsbackeskolan.
