The Trnovo translation group
This is a group of specially talented and advantaged pupils aged 12 to 15 who want to improve their English translating different kinds of texts: stories, essays, technical articles, school web page, etc. They also participate in different international on line projects as The Friendship Tour Journal, myEurope. They have gained many keypalls all around the world. The group meets once a week in the computer class for at least one hour and a half. They do translation and in the same time practise different computer skills as text editing, e-mailing, surfing, chating, ect. The first major translation work was done for the I*EARN project Relationship between men and women in 1997. A booklet was published as a result of this work. After that the members of the group have been translating almost every piece of contribution for all international projects our school has participated in so far. Sometimes they help to other schools and kindergardens.
This is a specific after class ICT activity joining interactional studying of language and computer with
the attendance of both teachers in the class. This is a special and new way of motivating gifted pupils,
offering them the opportunity to learn more and enjoy at the same time.
