The documenta X exhibition is promoted and organized by "documenta und Museum Fridericianum Veranstaltungs-GmbH", a non-profit company owned and financed by the city of Kassel and the State of Hessen, with additional support from the Kulturstiftung der Laender, using funds from the Federal Ministry of the Interior.

Deutsche Bahn, is the "official carrier" for documenta X, and will be supporting documenta X through the renovation of installation spaces at Kassel Central Station and by providing advertising and communication services for the exhibition. Visitors can purchase tickets for travel to Kassel and entrance into the exhibition. Additional activities are sponsored by Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe. Assistance with film and video projects has been received from Sony Deutschland.
