WOMEN.INDEX
Interactive project
WOMAN.INDEX is a
participative project to be developed in collaboration with women, including
not only the visitors to this exhibition but rather focused primarily
on chance passers-by on the streets of Belgrade. The project is aimed
at providing a testimony on the way the women perceive their position
in the society, which they will express via their answers to the question "How do I feel?"
The inquiry is represented on the billboards in the "city lights" media
space, inviting women to make a free-toll telephone call and leave an
anonymous message. The telephone message involves choosing between three
options for an answer to the question concerning whether a women feels: content, discriminated, or abused. The content
of the inquiry depicted on the billboards is prepared in collaboration
with experts from various research areas - sociologist, psychologist,
anthropologist and feminist activist.
Other part of the project concerns keeping track of the statistical
data gathered in this inquiry in the time span of four weeks, to be
shown on the digital display at the Republic Square in Belgrade,
and also within the gallery itself.
The project was already presented in Split and Naples, and therefore
the documentation from these two cities will be used as a basis for
a comparative analysis.
